I don't generally celebrate my birthday. But I'm making an exception this year. This past summer, I saw a presentation that changed my life and has forced me to continually rethink my priorities.

On November 27th, I'm turning 24. And December 4th will mark the 2nd anniversary of my first blog post on analyfe. This past summer, I pledged to donate my next birthday to charity:water. Rather than sweep the festivities under the rug, I'm going to embrace my birthday this year.

Stipulations are as follows: I don't want presents and I don’t want drinks. I want clean water.

Women and children in Rwanda walk for hours every day, up and down mountains, just to collect water from rivers. The worst part is that the water they collect is filthy and can lead to severe sickness and disease. A majority will not live to see their 24th birthday. It’s truly heartbreaking.

Well, we can actually do something about it. Just $65 can give someone in Rwanda clean water. The $2,400 I’m hoping to raise will bring a lifetime supply of clean water to 36 people.

So I'm asking everyone for my age in donations--give $24 or $240, or any amount that works for you. Help me share life's most basic need.

The best part is that 100% of the money we raise will directly fund water projects in Rwanda, and when those projects are complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the impact we made. I honestly cannot think of a better birthday gift.
