  • Field Notes:

Thanks to you, this village now has access to clean, safe drinking water. They’ve also been trained by our local partners on safe hygiene practices. We believe one of the keys to sustainability is for the community to feel ownership of their project. So the community contributed $200 toward their project’s construction and will continue to contribute $8 per month to receive regular maintenance.

Women and children here used to walk up to two hours each day to collect dirty water for their families that would often make them sick. Thanks to your help, people here are walking significantly less every day to collect water. On average, they’re less than 15 minutes from their new water project, which means each family now can use up to 15 liters per person per day. And most importantly, the water they bring home each day is safe enough to drink.

Our partner included photos of the community you helped and the Water Committee that was selected and trained to oversee this water project. They collect a monthly fee from each family for routine maintenance. Learn more about how our partner, ICDI, ensures sustainability here >>

Note: Our field teams were able to take a photo of your project while it was under construction. We’ve included that photo in your set so that you can see part of the construction process!

Note: Wondering why there’s a photo of a river, pond, swamp or open well in your report? That’s the community’s previous water source. Thanks to you, they don’t have to use this anymore.
