Virginia Clay Drilling Rig
Completed: May 2012 [?]In September 2011, you joined the September Campaign to fund a drilling rig fleet so our local partners in Ethiopia could drill more wells. One of our earliest supporters, Virginia Clay, promised to match September Campaign 2011 funds. With your help, we raised more than our goal, so we combined your funds with Virginia Clay's to buy a second drilling rig fleet.
We promised when the rig was on the ground, we'd track it on a map and show you proof of it in action. Here, you can follow the rig's activity and see all the fundraisers and donors who made it possible.

Virginia Clay broke ground drilling its first well in Gra Kedam, Ethiopia. Hours into the drill, we hit an aquifer of pure ground water. Watch the video to see what happened.

ABOUT VIRGINIA CLAY
THIS RIG CAN DRILL 80 WELLS AND GIVE WATER TO 40,000 PEOPLE. EVERY YEAR.
Our local partner in Ethiopia, Relief Society of Tigray (REST), plans to serve 100% of northern Ethiopia with access to clean water. Their strategy includes many water solutions: drilled wells, hand-dug wells and spring protections, to name a few. We want to help them reach the target number of drilled wells sooner, which will speed up their plan to provide everyone with clean water.
