Read Mission Statement

It's been ten years since my brother Chris and I started a little hobby-business in our basements-Gecko Daddy. The goal at that time was to help our kids have a learning experience similar to what we had growing up. As boys, our room was filled with reptiles-land turtles next to the water turtles on the dresser, frogs and geckos on the shelves, a large Savannah monitor in the closet-you know, a few modest pets.

Now, as adults, Gecko Daddy has been great for us and our kids. Our oldest boys essentially take care of everything and we have fun starting up new projects and visiting with other enthusiasts, at shows and elsewhere. It's been a great ten years! And now it's time to teach our kids a few more lessons-to do more for others-and we can with your help.

A few weeks ago, Chris and I found just the thing: Charity Water. We were touched by the need that we saw. We shared Charity Water's vision with our families and it was then that we decided that we wanted to turn some of our business goals toward this remarkable humanitarian effort.

You see, in ancient times the birthright child was given a double portion to help take care of family members who needed it. We feel in many ways we have been given the double portion in life. God has blessed us with so much. Maybe you feel that way too. That double portion isn't just meant to make our lives twice as good as others, but to take care of our brothers and sisters who are in desperate need. This is the lesson we want our families to learn and feel.

So, today Gecko Daddy started a campaign with Charity Water to donate $3,000 to help bring water to 100 people. This is how we are going to get our goal:
1. We will ask you-our friends, our fans, and our customers-to donate as you wish to our campaign. Whatever you can donate will help.
2. As a hobby-business, if you purchase a gecko from us, we will donate a percentage of our proceeds to help people get clean water… and you will get an amazing gecko!

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

We started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and we are looking for anyone who can help us.

Please donate to our campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.

Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Your donation will help change that.

We are getting so close to our $3000 goal! It looks like we may need to raise the bar a bit before June. That amazes us! We want to send a special thank you to those of you who have donated even when you did not purchase a gecko from us. Your generosity is heart warming. Thank you!
