Those that know me know I'm fairly active but this year I set a yearly goal of doing 15,000 burpees. If you are not familiar with a burpee you are one of the lucky ones. Those familiar with them, you know what I mean.
As I began my quest on January 2 of this year I thought, "Why am I doing this alone? How can I inspire others with my efforts?" That is when I decided to team with Charity: Water and create Bucks for Burpees
My quest will take a year, or close to it, but this campaign and the children, people, and families it will help can't wait that long so it will end in three months.
It's going to require training, determination, endurance, strength and a whole lot of moral support. Honestly, I'm not all that sure I can handle it. When I think about the number I set and the average daily requirement (41 per day) it looks impossible.
But when I think of the millions of women and children who have to walk miles each day to collect water for their families, I think of how most of that hard-earned water isn't even clean. I think about how 30,000 people die each week from water-related diseases.
And then... yes. I'll do my 15,000 burpees. I can do it. But I need your help.
My goal is to raise $15,000, one dollar for every burpee, for water projects. The best part: 100% of all donations go directly to water projects. You can pledge per burpee, you can give a lump sum to encourage me to complete my year of burpees or you can just donate whatever and whenever you want in the next three months. Your donation will let me know I am not doing this alone and together we are making a substantial difference in someones life.
I've never done anything like this before. And I promise to do it without complaining. After all, I'll have fresh water to keep me going. That's more than millions around the world can ask for.
