They walk to get water; we run to give it.

Women in developing nations have to walk an average of 6 kilometers to reach clean water. During this time, they are using up valuable energy, vulnerable to attack in nations that do not recognize them as equals, and spending hours in the search for a basic human right.
This time could be better used to seek education, improve community infrastructure, and gain political footing.
They walk to get water; we run to give it.
Water is a simple concept in developed countries, but for the women who don't know whether or not they have day to day access, it is a source of constant anxiety and labor.
With the money we raise through our 6 kilometer race and merchandise sales, we will invest in clean water wells in developing communities, and build community centers around them to bolster the women and give them the tools to improve their societies from the inside out.
