You fundraised, donated and came to a birthday party -- all to help us raise money for two new drilling rigs in Tigray, Ethiopia. Each rig will go on to drill 80 new wells, and together they'll change 80,000 lives -- every single year for the next 15 years.

Private donors cover our operating cost so that 100% of all public donations can go directly to water project costs.

This campaign helped fund a rig in Ethiopia that can drill 80 wells a year.

Last month I visited Central African Republic to see first hand charity: water's work in the field.

C.A.R. was already close to my heart - last year many of you donated for my birthday (along with Alex and Shashi's) as we fundraised for the Bayaka people there.

It was life-changing to see how the gift of water changes lives. I'm excited to help fund this drilling rig to help our partners in Ethiopia go faster in their quest for 100% water coverage in the Tigray region.

Please give what you can. 100% of your donation will contribute to the Rig fleet, and we're mounting a GPS unit to it - so for 10 years you'll be able to see where the Rig is working!

And a bonus: if the campaign hits its $1.2 million goal in total, a donor will buy a matching rig - so your donations are really doubled!

Update September 14: Wow! 4 days before my birthday and I already passed my initial $2,800 goal.

Thanks so much mum, Kieran Holohan, Heather, Hamo, Rupa, Davies and Dave Roeske for the top donations! But just as much thank you to all who have given.

Now I'm aiming up and setting my new goal at $5000, which means I'll be able to put my name and my top donor on the rig!

Yesterday charity: water tweeted a link to a photo of this drilling rig still in action! So 6 years after you donated to this fundraising campaign, your generosity is still making a positive impact for people in Ethiopia.
