Note: Our field teams were able to take a photo of your project while it was under construction. We’ve included that photo in your set so that you can see part of the construction process!
Note: Wondering why there’s a photo of a river, pond, swamp or open well in your report? That’s the community’s previous water source. Thanks to you, they don’t have to use this anymore.See how we tied your Dollars to Projects
We publish a project when we've approved a final report from our partners and made sure your project is working for the best of the community.
Four civil wars in the last decade have left 40% of the nation's already sparse wells unusable. At least 197,000 citizens displaced by conflict have, along with an influx of Chadian and Sudanese refuges, moved to jungle areas lacking basic services. charity: water has worked in CAR since 2007, providing 200 water projects to serve more than 216,000 people.
These are the GPS coordinates of your project, plotted in Google Maps. A GPS (Global Positioning System) coordinate is the exact latitude and longitude of any given point on the Earth’s surface. charity: water uses GPS coordinates to record the location of each water project we fund. Please note: there are many of different formats for GPS. We use degree decimal format.
This is the population of the community that has access to your water project.
The water technologies we fund depend on the region's water availability, culture and economic conditions. Our partners survey each site and meet with the communities to determine the best solution. This community received a deep borehole well. A professional team drilled deep into the earth to reach fresh underground aquifers, then capped the well with a hand pump. Deep boreholes reach water that is inaccessible by hand-digging, and usually yield more water than hand-dug wells. They are also more expensive to implement because of gas costs required to drive heavy machinery to the drill site.
This campaign raised enough to be recognized as the sponsor of this project. Read more about sponsorship on mycw.
This is the cost of the water project you funded. Costs vary by country and by project type, and depend on a wide range of variables such as the local cost of fuel and cement at the time your project was built. This project’s cost includes any hygiene training or community maintenance models for the project’s sustainability.
charity: water works with partners in the field to build and implement water projects. Our partners have years of experience. They know the land, the people, the culture and the most appropriate water technology for each area of work. They report this data from the field to help us provide proof of your completed project(s).
This ID is how we track your project in our system.
