Earlier this year, I really got enamored with charity:water. I watched Scott Harrison's videos, I went to the Twestival, I bought the t-shirt (literally).
For birthdays, my family is notorious for buying odd presents. This year, I wanted something that would make a much bigger difference.
People always say, 'Hey, I'll buy you a drink' on or around your birthday. That is awesome, but I'm getting a bit hefty in my old age. Again, I'd rather the money go towards something that will be more valuable to more people.
What if all the people that say that they will buy me a drink, contribute that $5 to buy me a well? What if all of the people that buy me stuff that I don't need, help to deliver clean water to a community. Between Facebook & Twitter, I think that I could get a well.
That is my birthday wish this year. I want my friends and family and strangers and acquaintances and anyone whose life I've had some type of impact on, to chip in five bucks.
That's it. Five bucks to help people that have next to nothing get something that we take for granted. A glass of water.
