I started my own business 5 years ago on September 16, 2008. I named it Vision for lots of reasons, but largely because I believe that if you see a positive, prosperous future, it will come to pass.

Five years later, while it's no breeze, I have never regretted that I took this opportunity to learn and grow.

But here's the thing. Lots of people on this earth don't have the chance to do what I've done. When I heard Scott Harrison speak at Inbound 2013 in August, I learned that about 800 million people in developing countries still don't have clean drinking water.

The women and children walk hours to access water to drink, only to get sick from the germ-infested stagnant water they find.

Scott felt moved to start a very different type of charity in 2006 to attack this issue. Since then, through Charity: Water people all over America (and the world) have made a difference by giving up their birthdays (and doing many other creative things) to raise money for clean water. Only $450 can give an entire family clean water. Forever.

I know you weren't planning on sending me a gift to celebrate the 5th birthday of my business, but maybe you could feel moved to spare some money for clean water.
