Almost 800 million people live without access to clean water.

Willow Wind students ask you to join us in building a well!

And read below to learn why we are doing this project:

“When we found out that there were so many people who don’t have clean water we wanted to do something. We wanted to make a difference. 840,000 people die from not having clean water or sanitation issues (each year). So we decided to raise money to build wells. Some people suffer to walk 3 hours to get water. A third of the world has water scarcity. So that’s why we are helping fix the problem.” -Magill Lowe, 8

“A third of the world’s population spends up to 3 hours a day to get the water they need to survive and not all of this water is clean. Me and my schoolmates think we should do something about it. Lots of people think we should do something about it- you should too!We could do lots of thing to help raise money, spread information. Lots of the kids in different places of the world don’t life to be five years old because of no access to clean water. I think we should help with this problem!” -Lilla Doherty, 9

“Water is a big problem in the world. 1/3 of the earth is experiencing some sort of problem including water. It’s real sad how so many people in the world are getting sick and sometimes dying from dirty water. One family can walk four hours a day just to come back with dirty water. Sometimes the problem is economic scarcity. But we can try to change this problem. If we try hard, and really believe in ourselves, then I think we can do it. Willow Wind is helping to address the water crisis and if you donate money if will go to make a well. Water changes and effects everything.” -Simone Starbird, 9

“When I heard about the water problem and people dying from bad water, I felt bad for the people that had that water. I wanted to help make a change for the people, and my school and I are helping by raising money for a well for them. Not the people won’t have to walk so far because before the people were helping them, they had to walk three hours to get there. That is why I think this charity: water fundraiser is a good idea.” -Lili DeMarinis, 9

“I’m a third grader at Willow Wind, and I think that it is important that we donate money to build a well in Africa. 840,000 people die each year from lack of clean water. If we raised enough money to build a well, so many people could get clean water they need to survive. I think we, all of us, should try to help.” -Parker Greaves, 8

“The Willow Wind community has been learning about water. This is what we have learned. We have learned a lot of people in the world do not have access to clean water. Women and young girls have to walk 3 hours to go and get dirty water from streams, lakes, and rivers. More people die from drinking dirty water than from war and guns.” -Lena Caballero-Uhtoff, 9

“People around the world don’t have access to clean water and that needs to stop because every day people die from dirty water which is not okay with me. We don’t want them to have to walk 3 or 4 miles to get dirty water. If we make a well we will help stop the problem.” -Aiden Espinoza, 8

“It is important to have clean water. The problem is that lots of people in Africa and other places can’t get water straight from the faucet. The women have to walk a long way to get dirty water. The dirty water can get the family sick. If the wife is sick, the kids walk to get it. This makes it so that kids miss school and not learn much. But there is something awesome we can do about water. We are raising money to build wells.” -Max Whitney, 8

“Some people don’t have access to clean water. More people die from water than war. And we can change that!” -Aliya Lackey, 9

“People die from water every year because their water source is bad or they have dirty water.” –Eva Klam, 8

“Willow Wind thinks that the people with no clean water need help. If we could just know we helped one person get clean water we would be the happiest school ever. Take a second to look around you- you see clean water everywhere. Now think how happy those people with no clean water would be to se all of that water. Now do you feel that feeling that you want to help? Well now donate and you will feel better than ever!” –Brynn Traynor, 8

“We are learning about water. Here is the problem: people are dying from not having clean water.” –Kai Fix, 9

“There are 748 million people without access to clean water. That needs to stop. There are 1400 kids, 5 years old or younger that dies each day from water related illnesses. These people have to walk 3-4 hours a day to get dirty water. Even if we only help 10 people have clean water, we would be making a difference. These people need clean water to live.” -Keller Bloodworth, 8

“750 million people can’t access clean water- that’s 2 and 1/2 U.S.A’s! In one year, 40 billion hours are wasted walking long distances to get dirty water. That’s ONLY in Africa! Dirty water can cause dehydration or even death. A lot of the whole population on earth have to walk three hours every day collecting unsafe, dirty water. More people die from dirty water than from wars. Our school is raising money to help stop the water crisis. It’s not a good thing and it needs to stop. Lots of people are dying. If a mother is sick, the children have to stay home from school to walk long distances to gether dirty water for their families. The water is dirty and kills even crops. Farmers can’t farm and their families go hungry as well as being thirsty. We are very lucky to have clean water, especially as much as we want. 1,400 kids die each DAY from the lack of clean water. Some kids don’t even live to be five years old! People like us can help. But how? Donate money to build a well. It can stop. It needs to. So, help.” -Mira Saturen, 9

“People from around the world do not have access to clean water and need our help. The people have to walk 3 to 4 miles to only get dirty water. My school is going on a long walk, carrying empty water jugs and filling them up. We are doing that to raise money and feel how walking with water is like.” –Flannery Lundgren, 8

“We are learning a lot about water. A lot of people have to walk a long way for water and sometimes the water that the people walk for is not clean. We can help that by building wells that will help people have clean water and don’t have to walk for the water. This is one thing we can do about it.” –Jane Cruz, 8

“Did you know that 1.8 billion people do not have access to clean water? Even if we can’t solve the problem all the way. But, if we get one more person clean water, we can make a difference.” –Anora Villella, 8

“Lots of people don’t have clean water. Your town is very lucky because even our toilet water is clean. A lot of the time kids die before turning 5 because they don’t have clean water. I think we should try as hard as we can to save peoples lives.” –Bella Campbell, 9

“Most people don’t have clean water. They have dirty water and more people die from water than from war. We should help people by building wells. Lots of people have to walk for many miles for dirty water. There is very little clean water in the world so we should share the clean water by donating."
