My birthday is coming up next month. Anyone who knows me, knows I love to celebrate birthdays. I think it’s awesome to take one day a year to celebrate being in this world and feeling special! It’s never been about the presents or the celebration…but more about feeling the love.

This morning I was inspired by the podcast I listened to with the founder of Charity Water. I have always been aware that access to clean drinking water in the developing world is scarce but I never truly let it set in. 663 MILLION people in the world live without clean water. Diseases from dirty water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. 43% of those deaths are children under five years old. Access to clean water and basic sanitation can save around 16,000 lives every week.
This year, for my birthday I want to make an impact. I am turning 42 this year so I have set the lofty goal of trying to provide 42 people with clean water. I want to save 42 lives this year. We have so much abundance here in North America. Clean water is taken for granted…we even have it in our toilets. I’ve chosen this charity because 100% of the money donated goes directly to creating the water sources. Any overhead costs to run the charity comes from private donors and I think that is AMAZING.

So, here is my big ask. I want to raise $1271 by my birthday. I don’t want gifts, or flowers, or cards, or tacos or pizza. Genuinely. I would love for you to take whatever you have and pledge to this cause. If you can make a donation of any amount, please do. If I have ever made a positive impact in your life, please donate.
