Ever since I started playing the sport of basketball, I loved to drink Gatorade. I would buy every flavor, from orange to cucumber, re-stock my supply every week, and I would always find a way to sneak Gatorade to school.

One day, during the summer after my junior year of high school, while browsing the internet (of course, over a glass of Gatorade), I came upon the website for charity: water. As inquisitive as I was, I strove to learn more, and I even listened to some of Scott Harrison's interviews. I was shocked to learn that many people don't even have the luxury of having access to clean water, and here I was, bugging my parents on a weekly basis to finance my Gatorade addiction. It truly felt bad.

During my senior year of high school, I was given a challenge by my government/economics teacher to set a goal and raise money for charity: water. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to reach this goal, so right before heading off to college, I started a campaign to make up for what I wasn't able to raise. I am choosing charity: water, because its mission is to not only bring people clean drinking water, but to also do so with transparency and dedication. Many other problems such as disease and famine revolve around the lack of clean, sanitized water, and charity: water is one of the best organizations to make sure no one in the future goes thirsty.
