I was skimming the news the other day and a story about an 8-year old donating her savings of $8.15 to "charity: water" stood out me. Instead of scrolling past a plea for donations I started reading, and I kept reading until I wanted to make a difference too. Since college I have been caught up in my own corporate world taking the smallest things for granted. But awareness is the first step and the rest is a ripple effect of change.

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean. But 1 in 10 people around the world don’t have access to clean water. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. It shouldn’t have to be that way. My economic development courses in college taught me how powerful access to clean water can be to a society. That it can change everything for a developing country— sanitation, hygiene, health, education. There are simple solutions to fix this crisis, like drilling wells, spring protections, and BioSand filters. I want to help “charity: water” build these types of projects in communities around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me. I've researched the company and 100% of your proceeds goes directly to water project costs on the ground. If you have the means to donate to this cause, it would be very much appreciated. That said, this wouldn’t be my mission statement without another pun— so water you waiting for? Every drop counts.
