Every so often, through out the past year, I’ve contemplated how to celebrate my 40th Birthday. It wasn’t until last week, after I watched a video on “charity: water,” that I decided I’m going to donate my birthday to help those who do not have access to clean water.

This particular organization, “charity: water” helps communities all over the world find and maintain clean water sources, then notifies the donators, their part in this process.

“100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.”

There are many reasons I’m choosing to do this instead of a party...the main reason being: it feels good.

I’ve created a donation campaign, titled, “CandyMae’s 40th Birthday Celebration,” on the charity’s website, and have started the donation process by giving what I easily would have spent throwing a party for myself.

If you would also like to donate to charity: water through my birthday campaign, I’d really appreciate it! My goal is to raise at least $400. (I figured since it’s my 40th Birthday, $400.00 sort of made sense, and its an achievable goal.)

Please, help me celebrate my birthday by donating money to a charity that simply wants to help fellow humans achieve and maintain the most basic necessity if life: clean water.
