Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean! Clean water is a basic need that is easily accessible and even superfluous in our lives. Sadly, not everyone has this luxury.

In fact, a staggering 663 million people in this world don’t have access to clean water at all and are forced to drink filthy, merky, parasite and disease infested water. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. Dirty water is responsible for 52% of all illness in the developing world and it kills more people every year than all forms of violence including war.

Access to clean water and basic sanitation can save around 16,000 lives every week and give communities more time to grow food, earn an income, and go to school - all of which fight poverty.

The water crisis is something we CAN solve together. That is why this year, I am donating my 28th birthday to Charity Water.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped. I hope you will consider contributing so we can end the global water crisis together.
