$1. 100 pennies. 10 dimes. 20 nickels. 4 quarters. That is what I am asking for from YOU.

Clean water access is a cause that I have deeply cared about and this is a campaign that I have been wanting to do for awhile. So, I decided to do an easy goal of $40, to represent the 40 days in the season of lent. A dollar a day.

This lent season I have been challenged not only to give something up but to use these 40 days intentionally.

Charity:water has been a charity that I have admired for a long time for a number of different reasons. The first reason being they have a tenacity to not stop until the number of people without clean water reaches zero. The second reason is something that you would probably enjoy knowing too. They follow the 100% model meaning every single penny you donate goes straight to their water projects. Not to the CEO's salary or coffee or new building developments but every last cent goes straight to the cause.

Clean water access is a cause that I know lots of facts and stories about. I know that we have the great privilege of drinking clean water at any given moment without the worry of potential diseases or harmful effects. I know that 1 in 10 people do not have access to our most basic need. And I know that there are 663 million people on this planet without access to clean water.

It was not until I took a trip down to El Salvador in which I saw the real effects that the gift of clean water can bring. After bringing water filters I saw hope, potential, and education. One mother was so taken back by this gift and couldn't believe it was free. We told her "No cuesta nada, es gratis." (It doesn't cost anything, it's free!!) The look of relief on her face knowing that all of her little kiddos running around were going to get clean water was so priceless. So come alongside me and help bring the free gift of clean water to those around us!
