We can't wait to see all of you soon for the big party! We feel so lucky to have the chance to share our special weekend with all of you.
Many have already asked us where we are registered and what kind of wedding gifts we would like. Frankly, like most people in America, we have more stuff in our house than we need and could actually benefit from some downsizing.
That said, we do have a wish and hope you can help us.
A few years ago, we both got involved with charity:water to help provide clean water to the more than one billion people who go without it every day. At first, we were intrigued by the team at charity:water and helped them fundraise. But, we kept finding ourselves diving deeper and deeper into their work. At charity:water, they track how every single dollar goes directly into building fresh water wells for the most deserving people on the planet. It's hard not to get passionate about the impact.
Soon, Chris traveled with the charity:water team to project sites in the Tigray region of Ethiopia to see firsthand the people whose lives have been saved by this organization's work. In fact, he got to visit the specific wells and we had sponsored and celebrated the ribbon cuttings village by village with the men, women, and children whose joy is hard to express without getting teary.
And so it is that, in lieu of any gifts to us, we all take a moment to celebrate our good fortune. We are so excited to gather with you in one of the most beautiful and bountiful places on earth, eating, drinking, dancing and laughing. Yet, a lot of folks on this planet aren't as lucky and are doing everything they can to survive.
So, please join us and help us raise money to create four clean water wells in Ethiopia. Each well can save the lives of 500-1500 villagers and lasts an average of almost 20 years. The day those wells go in, the kids stop getting sick and the women, who normally hike for hours to fetch dirty water, immediately start attending school.
We will all actually be able to track the progress of these wells and soon see the GPS coordinates of where they were built and pictures from their dedication.
Nothing would mean more to us than knowing that we could share our love, and our love for all of you, to make this world a concretely better place.
We hope you will help us, and to kick it off, we are donating $5,000 to dedicate the first well!
You mean the world to us,
Chris & Crystal
