Instead of gifts this year, I'd much rather you helped people get access to clean water...wanna help?

With Christmas coming up, I’ve been asked for a wishlist a few times. I hadn't already put one together, and I kept on stalling when I was asked. For some reason, I just really didn't want to spend my time window shopping for things that I might want others to give me.

But there's some people that genuinely want to give me something I'd love for Christmas...so I decided to think for a bit about what I really wanted. Here's the wish list I came up with:

1. Bless people in need with fresh water

That's it, that's my wish list for this year. I really don’t want anyone to buy me things this year—I simply don’t need more stuff. But I do want to others to have an opportunity to give. While I live a very comfortable life, there are so many people in far more need of basic necessities like water. So this year I’ve asked my loved ones to donate to charity:water in my behalf instead of giving me a present.

So far we've raised $240—that's clean water for 6 people! Can you imagine being one of those people?

Just last night, Katie and I were talking about our favorite Christmas memories, and one immediately popped into my head. When I was just a kid, and our family didn't have much money, a man showed up at the door with a big bag of presents. I can't recall who it was, or what he said, but even today, I remember feeling so grateful for his generosity. He wasn't my parent, my sibling, or even my close friend, but he saw an opportunity to give, and he acted. His kindness has stuck with me for over 20 years.

Now, you probably weren't planning on getting me a Christmas gift this year, and I know you're busy giving to the many people you already know well. But I'd ask you—if you're able—to please give just a couple dollars to help a few people get clean water.

You can rest assured that 100% of our donations go straight to creating a clean water well. We'll even get GPS coordinates and pictures as proof when the project is done.
