Most of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me.

This campaign is meant to substitute presents for my upcoming birthday on the 18th of May. Instead of asking family and friends for materialistic items I realise that I am in the position to help others. If you feel the same I encourage you to contribute to the campaign yourself.

With charity: water 100% of our money will be used to build clean water projects. There are about 200 sponsors who cover all other operational costs like salaries, rent and credit card fees.

To be honest, I am not a big fan of the 100% policy, because it creates the illusion that charities can generally operate without any running expenses which is neither true nor desirable. However, "charity: water" is in the unique position to have these sponsors cover their operational costs and should use this to their advantage. Consequently, this 100%-policy proves to be a great tool in creating tons of free marketing for charity: water and ultimately allows them to construct and install many more drilled wells, spring protections and water filters.

To illustrate the fact that every donation helps, I have split the goal of $750 up by different amounts:
