My name is Alex, I'm 32 years old. I am currently in the hospital and been in here for four weeks now. When I came in i was really sick with a blood infection, and abscess, and two blood clots. The doctors told me that there would be a chance of loosing my left arm or get heart surgery, I was lucky enough to make out without having to get any f those procedures done. I been addicted for 8 long years it's been really hard on my self esteem and for the ones that love me. Since I been in the hospital I have found a love for art, I've always loved art just didn't think that I was good enough, then some one send me a video about charity water, I couldn't believe it and the story about the little girl Rachel broke my heart and had brought me to tears. Now that I have been healthy clean and sober I want to give back, as an addict I would always take and take, I was selfish and didn't care about any one but me. I see this whole experience with the hospital and me getting sick as a blessing in desquise, something is telling me that I'm still alive for a reason and one of the things I love doing is helping others and making them smile weather it be through my sense of humor or art. I think I found my reason and I don't think this all happened for no reason. I am willing to pledge my birthdays besides I'm 32 years old too old to be getting birthday money from my folks. I'm willing to continue to stay sober and to share my story with others and to make a difference in at least one persons life but with this campaign I'm hoping to make a big difference in a lot of peoples lives. Even if i don't get to my goal it wont stop me from giving back and helping others. Thank you and I hope we can all make a difference together.
