Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!
But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
I was first touched by the charity: water mission when listening to Mike Dillard's podcast, Self Made Man and then again when found Scott Harrison visited Northpoint Community Church. Watching women and children risk life and limb to find, collect, bath and drink the nastiest water you can imagine. Only to have it eventually kill them, broke my heart and rocked me to the core.
Thinking of Cooper, Lilah, Lincoln and Ashley pregnant with Hank. I couldn't help but feel eternally blessed and grateful that we live in a place where we will never know struggles like these. I can't imagine not having access to something as basic as water. As I stood there crying, thinking about how HUGE of a problem it is and how little I could do about it. I realized that while I can't provide clean water for the world all by myself. I could at least fund 1 well, so a community of hundreds of men, women and children wouldn't have to ever worry about clean water again.
My goal, once again, is to raise $10,000 by my 40th birthday on Augusta 26th, because that's approx what a well cost.
The great thing about #charitywater is that 100% of the proceeds go to clean water. No marketing, no admin, nothing else. Just providing clean water sources for these people. That means I need to raise $350 a day, everyday until my birthday.
To get this party started, I made an opening donation of $1,000 to my campaign "Denny's $40 for 40th Birthday Water Fund". Simply click the link to join the party.
I'm asking you to donate at least $40 for my 40th birthday. If you can do more (and I know some of you can) then by all means please do. Maybe you can do $100, $500 or $1,000 or even more. The more you donate, the more people we help. Every little bit counts and I appreciate any donations. Some of you already support many other causes and I totally understand if you aren't in a position to help at this time. If that is that case, maybe you'll consider donating your birthday to Charity Water.
I want to thank you in advance for your support and look forward to celebrating us reaching our goal on my birthday. Click the link to join the party.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
Thanks again for your support of my 40th Birthday campaign. Your support has been deployed in Mali this time around. Click this link for more info on Mali, https://www.charitywater.org/our-projects/africa/mali
Love this! Happy (late) birthday!:)
17 days left and a long way to go. Life has been crazy busy, so I'm putting it in God's hands. If you feel inspired to share, please do. Thanks!
