Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!
But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me.
Please donate to my campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.

Dear Friend:
In 1984, I was fortunate enough to travel to Kenya, Africa with 23 other students from my college. We had the opportunity to get to know the country by living there for four months. I lived with the family who often had to travel up to 3 miles to carry water back to their home. I experienced firsthand how challenging it is to carry a large bucket of water on your head while struggling up a small hiking trails to get back to my host's home. Later I provided the funds to clean and cover their rainwater cistern that when I first looked in was filled with green algae, dirt and debris. This did help them have access to clean water when it rained. But this could not always be relied upon.
More recently my older daughter and I traveled to Nicaragua and watched what the community there did to acquire water. This is such a fundamental need that this organization is doing so much to meet.
