Ramadan is a special most beautiful time of year, a time when Muslims around the world take a step back from their daily routines and focus on community, charity, fasting, and prayer. As Muslims we strive to be generous and humble in charitable contributions, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the most generous of people, and even more so during the month of Ramadan. So this Ramadan, I would like to make a difference with all of your help Inshallah, yes during Ramadan we feel what the less fortunate feel on a day-to-day basis, but the less fortunate does not get the luxury to wake up for lavish Suhoor, or have that crisp cold drink of water after that long day or that sweet date that sits at the center of table as you wait for Iftar to break your fast. What about the people around the world who do not have that one bite of food or that refreshing sip of water? Charity is very important in Islam, and even more so during Ramadan. Ramadan is a particularly blessed time to give in charity, as the reward is 70 times greater than any other time of the year.
Something as simple as water can mean so much to people all over the world. It's hard for most of us to imagine that clean safe water is not something that can be taken for granted. But, in the developing world, finding a reliable source of safe water is often time consuming and super expensive. Can you imagine what it must be like to not have access to a clean cup of water? There are some areas where the LACK of water is a deeper problem. There simply isn't enough. The problem of water scarcity is unfortunately a growing one. Please help my cause this Ramadan and help supply a simple necessity such as water to people in true need.
May ALLAH reward us all for the effort, big and small.
"Those who spend their wealth by night and day, in secret and in public, shall have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve" (Qur'an 2:274). "By no means shall you attain righteousness unless you give freely from that which you love. And whatever you give, Allah knows it well" (Qur'an 3:92).
"Alms are for the poor and the needy; and those employed to administer (the funds); for those whose hearts have been (recently) reconciled (to truth); for those in bondage and in debt; in the cause of Allah; and for the wayfarer: (thus is it) ordained by Allah, and Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom."
