Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!
But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
I started this writing marathon to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
An ancient Buddhist teaching tells us that if we want something in our life, we must first give it away to someone else. You give a little seed of love, of kindness, of joy, and in the giving it will grow for you and become a tree in your life. In the original manuscript of A Course in Miracles, there's a line that sums up the law of this universe: protect the things you value by giving them away. My question to you now is: what do you want in your life? Because if you understand this and give to others the love that you want, love will grow in your life. And this alone will change everything.
The only way to heal is to help others heal, and the only way to find love and keep love in our lives is to give it to others. We've never been taught what love truly is. How we can keep love when we believe in a world that teaches us that we can get by taking? This belief alone has hurt us in ways that we are not even aware of because we live against the fundamental law of creation: in giving we shall receive. If we believe that we get by taking, that means that when somebody gives love to us, we get and they are left without. Also, if you've ever loved someone, it means that when you've given, you were left without, and you know this is not true. The way to have love is to give it away. But our greatest fear stands in our way. Our greatest fear is to simply say "I love you" again after our heart had been shattered.
