My 43-second soapbox speech about the cause:

Those who have been to one of these dinners know that this cause means a lot to me. It’s about more than clean water (which everyone in the world should have), it’s about providing opportunity.

charity:water helps women and children who spend on average of 4 hours/day walking for DIRTY water. Every single day. That’s 28 hours a week spent on the water that will eventually make you sick. By giving people clean water, we’re giving them back time AND health. Time to go to school, time to build a business, time to work and support their families. And of course, none of that matters without health.

It was both heartbreaking and inspiring to witness this in person — the Jerry cans, the head wraps used to withstand 50lbs, the children practicing with smaller yellow jugs. Heartbreaking because we all know of a world where this is nullified, and inspiring because of the display of human resilience.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
