I am a 12 year old girl who loves to fish with my Dad and hunt for treasures on the beach. It seems crazy, but my Charity Water campaign began all because of my chickens - Hagrid, Hermione, Gertrude and Ulga.
For two years I dreamt of getting chickens and then used my own money to pay for them. What I soon realized is that I needed additional money to care for them. I decided to start a business incorporating what I love, called Fishgirl.
My Uncle Eric taught me to tie my own flies which I enjoy, so I sell flies which I tie and jewelry I make from treasure hunting at the beach. When people buy from Fishgirl they get one of a kind pieces made by me in the USA.
I am BLESSED!!!
I know that Fishgirl couldn't exist without an abundance of CLEAN WATER. I just learned that 663 MILLION people on this planet don't have access to Clean Water - that's 1 in 11 of us! What they have, is water that causes disease, keeps kids out of school and takes hours to bring back home.
I want to feed my chickens and help drill wells in developing countries. When you purchase from me, I give 50% of what I earn to Charity Water. This summer I had a booth at the Fox Island Fair and made $300. I am donating $150.00 to start my campaign!

It's been a busy 9 months for Fishgirl. Thanks to your donations and supporting my business of tying flies and making beach inspired jewelry, I was able to continue to feed my chickens and most importantly donate to Charity Water. I started with a goal of $500 and ended with over $3500! Wow - 119 people will get clean water forever! That will change THEIR lives. Sadly I lost one chicken - my favorite - she died of a repiratory infection and even after bringing her inside and giving her antibiotics she just didn't make it. The other three are doing well though and pretty regularly lay three eggs total a day. The LED Christmas lights have extended their laying through the winter, which I never expected!
I have made enough money to reinvest in my business and was able to purchase a vice which will allow me to tie more advanced flies and I have increased the number of charms I sell for my jewelery. So for 2016 I will continue my business and give 20% to a charity to be determined.
