I was not always happy with my hair, but now it seems pretty good. I thought chemo would make it fall out, but it didn't . Now I am ready to lose it for a good cause - Clean Drinking Water. Please help me lose my hair for a good and just cause!
Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!
But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me.
Please donate to my campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
No matter how much you donate know that you will save lives, and I pledge to shave my head on my 71st birthday in 2019 to celebrate you, and the power we all share to make this world beautiful.
The projects you are helping to fund are located in Mali’s Kolokani and Tominion Districts. Mali is a landlocked country with vast deserts and a long dry season where many people lack access to clean water and sanitation. In fact, only 34% of Kolokani’s population has access to an improved water source. But thanks to you and our implementing partner, World Vision, we are working to change this.
The initiative you’re funding is at the halfway point, and we’re thrilled to report that everything is on track!
So far, World Vision has rehabilitated three wells and constructed 14 new wells with handpumps. Piped systems that will bring water directly into communities are currently under construction and the solar panels and pumps that will power them are awaiting installation.
Along with the construction of new water projects, sanitation and hygiene initiatives ensure the long-term health of the community and sustainability of the work you’re funding. A total of 50 communities have learned about the dangers of open defecation and are committed to becoming certified as Open Defecation Free through a process known as Community Led Total Sanitation—42 of these communities have already been certified as Open Defecation Free! In keeping with this effort, community members have built 2,827 latrines.
Water changes everything—access to education, improved nutrition, gender equality—and so much more. Thank you for partnering with us to change the lives of people in Mali!
The money you raised for this hair-losing campaign is now at work in Mali. I am so grateful to all of you. Blessings from the bottom of my heart.
