Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

Every year, I anticipate all the many gifts I would recieve for my birthday or Christmas. However, material gifts lack the same necessity it did when I opened boxes of toys. This year, I want to take a different approach to presents. This year, I want to give back and help charities.

As an advocate for environment, it is important to help those who have been greatly impacted by the lack of proper sewage. By donating to charity: water, you are saving children from diseases found in filthy rivers and keeping them in class instead of working to get clean water miles away.
