Dear Friends & Family,

I turn 50 on September 11, which seems like a great time for reflection.

50 years in, I think I'm having a pretty good run. Although I was always ambitious, I could never (ever) have imagined that life would be so good to me and I would experience so much.

Here are the key stats, as I see them.

· 1 amazing wife (for 24 years!)
· 4 wonderful children
· An overwhelming list of great friends, family & colleagues who I've shared so many amazing times with.

I am extraordinarily fortunate to have the kindness and generosity of you - my friends, colleagues and family - to guide me along the way. So thanks ... and now I'd like to ask for a little more kindness and generosity.

I want to use my 50-year milestone to put some goodwill in the bank for the future. I've been supporting a nonprofit called Charity: Water since 2011 - their mission is to simply bring clean drinking water to every person on the planet ... one community at a time.

I was inspired by this simple, yet enormous vision to make a massive impact in the world, the amazing drive and humility of their founder Scott Harrison and the incredible story of a 9 year old girl who donated her birthday for this cause, check out the video below.

With your support, I hope to raise $50,000 to fund a clean water source for 5 rural communities. Nothing would make me prouder than working with all of you to make a tangible difference for 5 communities in need. Ruth and I will be personally matching your donation until we reach our $50,000 goal.

So, for my 50th birthday I'll be accepting no present, no drinks, no cigars ... I'll only accept donations to charity water! Donating is simple and it would be awesome if you could pledge $50 (or more!) - one dollar for every year.
