In honor of World Water Day 2017, join me in helping to change the world one glass of water at a time. Why? Simply because there are people in the world who don't have clean water.
Just imagine...Even the water in our toilets is clean! It's a resource most of us take for granted. Yet, 1,400 children around the world die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. It doesn't have to be this way. I was so moved by learning these stats a few years ago that I began to raise money for clean water on my birthday. Since I'm a Pisces (and love water!), fundraising to make sure that people have access to water for the basics like drinking, bathing and cooking felt even more personal and like a no-brainer to me.
With the generous help of friends, family (and complete strangers too!), we raised hundreds of dollars for this cause. 100% of the funds are used to build clean water projects and Charity:Water shares beautiful photos and video when it's complete.
Join me in a VIRTUAL TOAST to help spread the word! Here's how it works:
All you have to do is buy a drink. Water is literally in everything we consume. Think of your favorite drink (I'm a lover of red wine) or one your friend really likes (everyone knows a coffee lover) and donate the cost of that drink to this campaign. Don't have a favorite? Donate the value of the last drink you consumed or imagine a fabulous concoction and give it a price... bend the rules and have fun! List the specific drink with a "cheers" message for good measure in the comments below. You can even let me know where the drink is from if it's from your favorite bar/brewery, restaurant, or cafe because I'm always looking for recommendations of great places to check out when I travel!
Share this toast via email and social media with your friends. The more the merrier! This is a really thoughtful way to let someone know you're thinking of them while you do something good for the world. I call that feeding two birds with one crumb :)
Thanks for your generosity! Here's to clean drinking water. Cheers!
Water is vital for life.
Whoever is kind to those in need lends to the Lord and he will reward them for what they have done.
$1 for every year of life. The journey is priceless! Wishing continued health, growth, happiness, fun and wealth to give back to great causes like this...
Thanks for joining the my annual virtual birthday toast! My birthday was on February 27th (I'm 31), but I decided it's never too late to do something positive to impact the world. Plus, World Water Day is coming on March 23rd so our timing is perfect! Let's toast to life and donate funds towards clean water projects for the people in the world who don't have easy access to it. I'm looking forward to seeing all of your favorite drinks and recommendations!
Current favorite red wine - Nicodemi, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Italy -- you can find it by the glass at A10 Hyde Park in Chicago! (shameless plug there ;) CHEERS!
