Why Dylan Cross is fundraising for clean water

In the beginning, God created people to be in fellowship with Him and gave them a beautiful environment to live in. They had everything they needed, and they were in the presence of God. It was good. Then, people disobeyed God and sin entered the world bringing with it shame, brokenness, and exile from God's perfect beauty and His holy presence. All that was good, people had lost.

However, God had a plan for healing and restoration, a plan to make things beautiful again and have fellowship with His creation. But how? Through Jesus and His kingdom. Jesus is called Immanuel -"God with us." He came to restore fellowship between God and man and to revitalize the beauty of creation and heal its brokenness. This is what Jesus calls "The Kingdom" and He wants us to be a part of building it. Jesus likens His kingdom to things that create growth and change. He wants to see the world changed into a place where God's holiness and love are imitated by His people. There are many important aspects of being a kingdom growth agent, but one thing is clear from Jesus' own behaviors, we are to love the poor, needy, outcast, and oppressed. Among such people, Jesus spent most of His own life and ministry.

In Jesus's example and teachings, we have a clear call and command to transform the world through generosity, kindness, and care for those in need.

With this page, we invite you to start participating as a kingdom growth agent by spreading love to people in need. Much of the world is without access to clean water, but through obedient generosity we can help bring clean water to communities that need it. Many of us will be moved by the realization of this need and decide to help out. This is great! But there is still an important question, how much to give? For the rich young ruler, Jesus asked that he give all that the had to the poor. Zaccheus gave half of what he had to the poor and Jesus said that salvation had come to his house. If you are a follower of Christ, it is likely that you already have a habit of giving, but we must ask ourselves if we have a heart of giving? Does our level of generosity reflect the level of love and care that God has for the helpless and powerless? Does what we keep versus what we give away reflect a great level of contentment in God and confidence in His provision? What would life be like, if we stopped asking how much should I give? And started asking how much does God want from me?

As you reflect on your participation in this act of kingdom growth. Consider the following scriptures pray that God will teach your heart to be like His.

Leviticus 25 --- Psalms 9:18, 37:23-26, 41:1-4, 68:5-6 --- Proverbs 3:9-10 --- Jeremiah 22:16 --- Matthew 24:15-25 --- Luke 4:18-19, 12:13-21, 13:18-21, 19:1-10 --- 1 Timothy 6 --- 1 Corinthians 10:33-11:1 --- James 1:27
