In October 2014 I ran my first marathon. It was a memorable day because friends provided unexpected support for me during the race.

I am running my second marathon in Des Moines on October 16. I am hoping to finish the race in under four hours, but I'm also aiming for something more important than that.

This time I want to provide unexpected support to others, just like I received during my first marathon. That support is not going to come by cheering for someone during a race, though. It's going to come through raising money, and I need your help.

I'll drink a lot of water during my race. Unfortunately 663 million people in the world live without clean water. That's nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide. Access to clean water make a huge difference in peoples' lives. It means education, income, and health---especially for women and kids.

My goal is to raise $2,620, which equals $100 for every mile of the marathon. That amount is enough to provide clean water for 87 people. With your help we can reach this goal. Please consider making a donation today for $5, $10, $20 or more!

I'll always be thankful for the unexpected support I received during my first marathon. I can't imagine how excited those 87 people will be when they receive our unexpected support in the form of fresh, clean, life-giving water.
