I'm donating my birthday to clean water!!!

Why donate a birthday?

Let's face it. By the time you get to be my age, there's not a whole lot you really need for your birthday. Not a whole lot, that is, if you live in the most blessed and prosperous country since...ever.

So, a few months ago, I was listening to a podcast and was blown away by what they were saying about the need for clean water in many parts of the world. And then the host threw out a challenge: donate you birthday, and instead of getting, give. Give life. Literally.

Why Charity: Water?

Call me naive, but I had no idea that so many people on our planet don't have access to clean water. I have even read recently that as many as 1,400 children die every day from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation!

If you're like me, you may feel overwhelmed by the amount of need and suffering in our world. It's hard to know where to start. Well, why don't we start with the absolutely most basic of needs we humans have? We need to drink. We need to cook. We need to wash. We need to clean. WE NEED WATER!

How can you be a part of it?

Suggested amount is $42, but literally anything helps. $5, $20, $1,000, whatever! My goal is $1275, which is the amount needed to give clean water to 42 people (see a theme here?). But I would love to get 10x that much!
