Did you know that in some parts of the world many girls are responsible for hauling water? They spend many hours each day walking to get water for their families and carrying 40-pound jerry cans of water; they never make it to school because this job takes up so much of their time. Most of us have the luxury of clean running water anytime we want and we don’t have to give up anything to get it.
My tenth birthday is coming up and I decided to celebrate it by starting this fundraising campaign to help charity: water. Instead of presents, I’m asking for people to donate money to my campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help. I was inspired to start this campaign when I realized girls were giving up their education to haul water and kids were dying from diseases caused by drinking unsafe water.
charity: water helps provide simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
100% of the money donated will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
Thank you so much for your generous donations to my campaign! I'm very excited that we achieved more than the goal I set and 19 people will get clean water. Thank you!
With Love,
Keira
