We are so excited to celebrate Mikayla turning one with everyone who loves her! At the same time, we are keenly aware of how fortunate she is, and grateful for the fact that she will never know what it's like to be thirsty.

Unfortunately, so many around the world don't have that luxury, and without clean water, kids are impacted the hardest. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. Dirty water also keeps girls out of school, because they are often the ones walking hours to collect water. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

We recently became involved with charity: water, an organization that works with local partners to bring clean and safe drinking water to people in need around the world, through simple solutions like wells, filtration systems, and rainwater catchments. If you are considering a gift for Mikayla, we would be grateful if you made a donation to her charity: water campaign instead, so that we can celebrate her birthday by giving the life-changing gift of clean water.

100% of the funds we raise will go directly to clean water projects, and when Mikayla's projects are complete, charity: water will share GPS coordinates and photos so that we can see the exact community we helped. We can't wait to share the impact with you and, eventually, with Mikayla.
