These recent local Atlanta water "disasters" have really made me stop, reflect and appreciate the luxury of having access to clean drinking water. It made me think of those for whom this no-water state is not just a few hour inconvenince, it is not a few days either. It is their life. And sometimes death.

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean.

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I started this fundraising campaign, inspired by my personal short-lived inconvenience of not having easy access to water and feeling compelled to do something to help others who are in a significantly more challenging situations gain access by helping charity: water build wells around the world.

I have signed up to run a 15 miler on Earth Day Weekend - April 21st, 2018 to raise awareness around the issue. My goal is to raise $525 for charity: water, and thus help 15 individuals gain access to clean water for the first time. 1 mile per each person.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
