Hey! If you know me, you'd know I don’t usually make much of a fuss for my birthday. This year I’ve decided to make an exception.
Like most of you, I'm lucky enough to be in a position where, really, I have absolutely everything I *need*, so I'd get a lot more out of seeing people who don't have basic access to clean drinking water get that instead. Seems fair right?
Since I'm a huge sceptic of many charities, I've chosen this one very very carefully. 100% of every donation will be used to build clean water projects in developing countries. This is possible because charity: water funds their operating costs separately through a group of private donors.
A few points to consider:
• Almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean drinking water.
• 25000 children under the age of 5 have died from a water-related illness since I posted this campaign 5 days ago.
• Every $1 invested in improved water supply and sanitation can yield from $4 to $12 for the local economy, depending on the type of project.
Considering my friends, family and associates, there's no reason we can't raise $3000 together. It means bringing 150 people clean water and it's halfway to funding an entire project.
So help me out and throw in a few dollars, you won't notice it gone and it will make a huge difference.
UPDATE:
Donate $500 or more and my fiancée will paint/draw you a portrait of your choosing! More details at: http://bit.ly/ncwater
Happy Birthday!! I love you xx
