2016 is more than half over. I'd like to give you the opportunity to do something easy that will make you feel proud of yourself not just for this year, but years to come.

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink - even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury.

Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

Why I launched this drive:

I started this fundraising campaign because I wanted to know that on my 40th birthday I did something that mattered.

I've decided to round up as many of my friends as possible to help charity: water get 40 people clean water and better lives.

I've kicked things off with a $140 donation of my own. I suggest you join me at that level, or $40 or $4, but anything you can give is a huge help.

My goal is to provide clean water to - naturally - 40 people! So that's $1,220, which totally doable.

Not a dime of your donation will go to administrative fees. 100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects.

What you get, beyond feeling good:

When the project is complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.

No, I won't bug you if you opt not to donate.

But don't you want to look back on 2016 knowing that 40 more people in this world have clean drinking water, thanks to you?

If there's a better way to spend $140 or $40 or $4, I don't know what that would be.
