Every person who donates will have their name written on our Tuk-Tuk tin cans. Any donations are appreciated, donate $30 or more and not only will you provide a person with clean water for life, you will also get your 5 minutes of Bollywood fame: Email us your picture, we will print it, take it to India, laugh at you for a bit, have a picture taken in India with your picture and post it on our facebook page, tagging you so you get the social currency you deserve!

Our Story
On the 1st Jan 2015 five clueless strangers will travel a very long distance, in a vehicle perilously ill equipped for the task across some of the most chaotic roads in the world to raise money for those in need.
“The Rickshaw Run” (http://www.theadventurists.com/rickshaw-run) is a 2600 km adventure up India from Kochin to Jaisalmer in a 7 horsepower glorified lawnmower and easily the least sensible thing to do with two weeks. No mechanics, no guides, no support…basically no idea! Piloting these engineering marvels you will have a stellar cast of characters, none of whom have either set foot in India or driven anything resembling said ghetto cruisers before:

Alex: The French charmer grew up on the mean streets of Paris and is no stranger to the hustle and bustle of chaotic roads, dodging the gypsy cabs of NY on a daily basis. Being a psychologist, she is the only one of the team with a clue about any part of the human body (be it the brain). Therefore she will be the chief doctor during the trip and will be in charge of saving our souls when the dreaded Delhi Belly hits.

Andre: A country boy hailing from Germany who has since traded Bratwurst for Yakitori, Adobo and NY strip loins. Not shying away from pulling off a fur vest and descending from the most efficient peoples of the globe, he describes pretty much anything he does as a process. No doubt, he will be able to make sure we do not run in too many circles as our Champion Herr Navigator.

Dreas: Met Andre at a young age and thought he had finally got rid of him after his fellow countryman got kicked out of good ol’ Deutschland. With solid slide tackles and superb Mario Kart skills, it is rumored that his descent traces back to the Schumachers. He probably doesn’t know it yet, but being a real German we are automatically assuming he knows everything you can about fixing vehicles so we have our designated head engineer.

Emmanuelle: The half French half Canadian Parisian has known Alex for over 20 years since they first met at school. Being a shifty card player herself, she will be sure that we don’t get hustled on our journey through the chaos. No stranger to adventure herself she recently completed the trails of Machu Picchu in Peru. Hailing from the business of supply chain she will know exactly what type of boat we will need should your team need amphibious transport for the vehicles.

Rob: Born in Argentina, he was shipped to England at an early age and has now had to spend a few years in the USA since neither country wanted him back. While perhaps liking to think of himself as the eye-candy of the group most people will know this to be complete tosh, along with everything else he says. Therefore he will be taking the role of chief blagger for those situations that will require some negotiations, be it with locals or law enforcement.

The charity
Not only is water the key ingredient in the world’s favorite fermented malt beverage, it is also quintessential to life. Currently 800 million people, that’s one out of every 9, lack clean water. Charity:Water (props for the original name there, fellas…) is an organisation that funds projects all over the world with the sole aim of changing that. Being one of the highest rated charities in the country (97% overall score https://tinyurl.com/mx2835w) it has been internationally recognised as a leading player in the fight for clean water.
In India, roughly 110 million people lack access to clean water. Last year the organisation invested $5.5M in projects that served over 325k people.
