Once in a while I throw a pitty party for myself. Relationship problems, sore muscles, unrelenting obligations, overwhelming thirst for things I want, but can't have.

Once in a while, a horrible day looks like waking up late, walking through a spider web, spilling a drink on my shirt, getting cancelled on, catching a cold, getting cut off in traffic on the way home, having a sleepless night - or whatever other petty sequence of events.

But then, I think: while I'm here complaining about my $1000 phone alarm malfunction, or my spider-riddled front porch at my beautiful home, a minor breakdown of my healthy body, my frustrations while driving in my own car, and tossing and turning in my comfortable bed... millions of people are drinking dirty, unsanitary water, walking tens of miles to get it, and dying because of it. Thousands of children die, every single day, due to the lack of one simple thing that we have in absolute abundance, and never even think twice about: Clean water.

Last year I pledged my birthday to Charity.water , an incredible organization that provides clean water to communities in need throughout the world. I did this largely to get the fuck over myself, donate a few bucks, transfer a few of my fucks (and encourage others to do the same), to help provide something simple, and imperative to life, that I take for granted every single day.

Tomorrow I turn 28 years old, and my goal is to raise enough money to give 28 people around the world access clean water in their communities; $840. So please, join me in getting the fuck over yourself, for one day, and donate a few bucks, transfer your fucks (to something more worthy of your energy), and provide clean water to someone who likely won't survive without it.
