Why Sean Fitzgerald is fundraising for clean water

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me.

Please donate to my campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.

Hi all! Wanted you to know the $676 we raised is at work in Niger! Here's some info they sent me, and I'll have a full report of where our money went in 9 months. THANK YOU ALL! Feel good about yourselves for doing a wonderful thing :)

    Why Niger?

As the largest country in West Africa, Niger has over three billion cubic meters of drinkable water available underground. The problem is, few can afford to build systems to bring it to the surface.

Around half of Niger’s population lives below the poverty line. Between the desert landscape and shortage of clean water, farming—and life—are difficult throughout the country. These are some of the reasons Niger consistently ranks near the bottom of the U.N. Human Development Index.

    What’s next?

Thanks to you, our partner organization, World Vision, Inc., is busy working on 65 projects. When those projects are complete, we'll collect GPS coordinates, photos, and other details about each community to show you the impact you’ve made in Niger.

I'm so humbled by all of your contributions! This has given me great perspective in recognizing what a great network of people I've been fortunate enough to meet in my lifetime :)

Special shoutout to those of you who I literally haven't talked to in YEARS who still took the time to check out this cause and decided to donate. Incredible selflessness by everybody and I can't express how much your support means- not just to me but also the people who will benefit from it!

I'm so grateful and appreciative to each and every one of you- if anyone else decides to donate a birthday in the future, I better be the first to know!!!
