Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean.
884 million lack access to clean or safe water supplies. By 2025, 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity, and two-thirds of the world's population could be living under water stressed conditions.
But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. A child every minute dies from a water related disease. More than 840,000 people die each year from water-related disease.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. Would you travel 6 kilometres for water that isn't even clean?
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped. Everything counts and is appreciated.
