Hey, ya'll - it has been a rough week. But it's also my birthday weekend. I turn 41 years old on November 13th.

I'm inspired right now by the words of my hero, Clarissa Pinkola Estés. She wrote: "Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach. Any small, calm thing that one soul can do to help another soul, to assist some portion of this poor suffering world, will help immensely.

One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times."

It's my birthday. And I'm so blessed. Ya'll already know, my life is all about pugs and business and God and Europe trips and writing and, frankly, luxury.

But I'm excruciatingly aware that so many people around the world, many of whom look just like me, don’t have one luxury so basic that we think it's a right: clean water. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. And millions of girls can't even go to school because they have to walk miles and miles to get dirty drinking water for their families.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for you, my friends, to put your own souls on deck this weekend and, for my birthday gift, help 166 people get access to clean water.

Anything you can give is a huge help.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
