As a family, we’ve been struck by the story of Rachel Beckwith. Our kids have also been impacted by her legacy of compassion and giving and are learning from it. All four of us have birthdays within two weeks of each other (Sept 30th, October 12th and Oct 15th) so we, as a family, decided to “give up” our birthdays and celebrate by raising money to provide clean water.

Our kids cannot fathom the fact that millions of people don't live to see even their fifth birthdays because they don't have access to clean, safe water. We’ve decided as a family to get involved and surprisingly, the kids are excited about it even if that means not getting gifts.

We’ve set a goal to raise $2500 to give clean water to 25 families -- and every penny of the money raised will go directly to fund clean water in Cambodia. Even better, charity: water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 18 months). That means we'll be able to see the communities we've helped and show our kids the real impact of giving!
