Sooooo, this year I am donating my birthday to charity water! Because I really believe in it and because it's legit. I don't do birthday's but I'm doing it this year and it'd be cool if you did it with me. Share. Give. Listen. Watch. Whatever this makes you feel. Truly.

I have a fear of pushing my passions or ideas on other people. I also have a fear of supporting the wrong things, so trying raise money for a charity feels weird but it's a challenge very much worth the risk.

Here is why.

I don't think it's bad to get that warm fuzzy feeling when you give. Maybe you give to keep the, "i feel like a good person" feelings. Maybe you give to keep away the bad feelings. Maybe you don't give because being guilted into giving seems insincere and believe me I totally get that. All things considered, whatever the case, no one is above giving, even if we think we are. It's really easy to be neutral and step away from a call to action.

I'm challenging myself to give because I've learned. I've learned about where we are (we, the people on our computers or phones looking at this campaign to raise money to give clean water to people who don't fall asleep watching netflix every night) and about the resources that we have and are able to share with others. Like, um, access to freaking clean Water! It's really cool that we can be apart of something like this! If we are educated about what we can do with the resources we have, and who we can share those with, why the hell wouldn't we do something about it? This IS something and it's a really cool something. If money is the only thing holding us back from contributing then let's pass a few bucks along.

This thing, this charity water thing funds projects to drill wells, ship water rigs, for spring protections and BioSand filters! All of this helps provide clean water to communities around the world. Ser - ious - ly!

So.

100% of the money raised (one hundred or one thousand) will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped. It's pretty dang inspiring. It's weird to give to something so big and so impacting, because it seems fake. But they're really just doing what they say, and it's working. I think we're supposed to do something with the things we know, or else that knowledge is kind of useless. I challenge you to give because now you know, if you didn't already. And you can't un-know things.

So cheers to not being neutral and cheers to clear, clean water and cheers to sharing and listening!
