For 20 years I have been living next to a guy who is obsessed with his noisy, polluting, outdated leaf blower. Several times a week in the summer he fires it up and proceeds to blow seemingly nothing off his driveway. This routine involves blowing around the street dust and anything else that he can find to occupy his time. The squirrels, birds and other wildlife disappear until he is finished. (Gas powered leaf blowers are not even permitted in my city until October 1st when there are actual leaves to clean up.)

As a goof, I had the idea of crowdfunding a $350 lithium battery leaf blower and presenting it to him. This would benefit the entire neighborhood including the squirrels and our ecosystem. I created a video of his antics which I hope will serve to entertain people and draw attention to my favorite charity, charity: water.

Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I started this “Leaf Blower Man” fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for help.
