My birthday's coming up. But that's less important than the fact that, every day, over 235 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation (Source: https://news.un.org/en/story/2019/03/1035171). In the last two decades, clean water projects have reduced water-related deaths substantially (Source: https://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/wwdreport.pdf). We have the power to reduce water-related deaths to zero.
Water projects matter not only because of their importance to basic health but also because... girls drop out of school when they get their periods and start walking miles to collect water for their families, a chore that exposes them to predation and sexual assault. And when women lose the right to education, communities suffer. Female entrepreneurs are much more likely to reinvest their profits in their communities (Source: http://www.oecd.org/dac/gender-development/45704694.pdf).
Please join me in funding clean water projects that work to address this global injustice. I'll match all donations and double your impact.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
Happy Birthday Skyler! 🎉🎉
