UPDATE 3: And we're done!! Thanks so much for joining us on this incredible journey over the last 40 days. Keep in touch with us to hear about the 16 wells that will be built in Tigray, Ethiopia!

UPDATE 2: It's Friday and we're so excited to be so close to well #15! Only two days left. Thank you for your immense support.

UPDATE: We hit 10 wells with 18 days left! We are blown away by everyone's support! We are taking a leap of faith and increasing our goal to 15 wells ($150,000) and we will continue to match!

******************************************************
Nearly 1 billion people do not have clean water.
Every 19 seconds, a child dies from a water-related illness.

During the 40 days of Lent, Project 1040 aims to raise money to build 10 wells, which would provide lasting clean water for 5,000 people daily. The wells will be dug in Tigray, Ethiopia, the poorest region in one of the poorest countries in the world.

Your contributions will be matched—dollar for dollar—up to $50,000, to reach our total goal of $100,000.

We also want to raise awareness for the world water crisis, a problem that actually has a solution!

10 wells. 40 days.

Glad you all are involved in such an important cause. Come August, I will be moving to South Sudan, where access to clean water is a huge issue. I applaud all of you in your efforts - thanks for spreading the word and helping those in need!

Teaching know-how to make water drums, which you can roll instead of having to carry, locally, may also be worthwhile.
