There are 800 million people in the world living without access to clean water. We are running to change that!
You've already helped us raise a whopping $6,165 (previous campaigns: http://my.charitywater.org/saharashuffle, http://my.charitywater.org/sahara-shuffle) for Charity: Water, and due to continued interest from our donors, we are continuing our fundraising efforts, with a goal of hitting $10,000!
***In order to ensure that we have the safest possible event, the Sahara Race has been moved to the country of Jordan. The race dates and itinerary will remain the same.
We invite you to follow our journey on our blog www.saharashuffle.com.
ABOUT
The Sahara Shuffle is a fundraising campaign created by two athletes, Amanda "Chett" Matchett and Eric Wheeler, who will attempt to run 250km (about 155 miles) across the deserts of Jordan in February 2014. This equates to running a full marathon every day for six days, while carrying all necessary food and supplies on our backs. The only thing provided will be rationed water and a tent to sleep in at night by race organizers, as well as medical care in the event of an emergency.
WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?
100% of your donation will fund our water project (more info at www.charitywater.org/100percent). Your donation is fully tax-deductible, and you will receive a tax receipt via email once your donation is complete.
None of your donation will go to race entry or personal travel fees.
WHO ARE CHETT AND ERIC?
Amanda "Chett" Matchett, 26, from Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Eric Wheeler, 26, from Huron, South Dakota, have lived parallel lives since the day they met over four years ago at their alma mater in Moorhead, MN. After graduating, both have successfully kick-started their careers as marketing professionals and started training and competing in the sport of triathlon. Most recently they connected in May 2013 in California during the AVIA Wildflower Triathlons, each competing in the Long Course (half Ironman distance). Together, they naturally feed off each others spirits; they are committed, dedicated, and ready for their next adventure with Charity: Water and RacingThePlanet's 4Deserts series.
A BRIEF MESSAGE
First and foremost, thank you for your already generous consideration of donating. We have been great friends since the first day we met and have experienced quite a lot together: graduating college, working through marketing internships, competition in triathlons, and supporting each other through the loss of both our fathers. It has been through these experiences that we found strength and courage to continue to push ourselves to the next level--intellectually, emotionally, and now physically.
The Sahara Race will be the hardest thing we both have ever endured. It will be a journey of personal growth, perseverance, and change. Change not only in ourselves, but most importantly change in the communities for which we race.
Sincerely,
Chett (@chett12) and Eric (@backyardlemons)

Good luck. Doesn't feel like it's been that long since you were telling Aaron and I about this on a roof in San Francisco.
Eric! Haven't seen you in forever, but am in awe of this adventure, and for such a good cause. Good luck!
woo!
Good luck Chett and Eric - go for it!
Chett has partially funded 3 projects.
